As Kris jetted off on his scooter one last time from Wakilni’s Dekwaneh office, he was set to embark on a new chapter in his life, pursuing his Masters in Environmental Science in France. However, the story of Kris at Wakilni starts with an unexpected internship opportunity back in April 2023.
Soon after Kris graduated with a BA in History and International Relations, he was on the search for a job before a family friend told him about Wakilni. Sitting behind a laptop screen and his phone never leaving his hand throughout his shift, Kris was dealing with customers’ complaints and inquiries during his internship. His specialty, as he would say, was failed orders. He explains how he was shown the ropes by his mentors and in no time was able to take over their tasks with ease i.e. conversing with clients over the phone and collecting orders. This, Kris continues, speaks of the commitment of Wakilni to provide dedicated mentorship that can offer guidance, support and career development advice.
Three months later after making quite the impression, Kris was offered a full-time job in the Customer Success Department. “Wakilni has set a high bar for me, to find something as good as this” Kris says. His most memorable experience at Wakilni also reflects the values he chose it for: mutual support and appreciation. During Christmas, all the employees have rotational shifts, so everyone gets to enjoy the holidays and in doing so support each other as a community during this peak season. According to Kris, this highlight the collaborative environment that Wakilni fosters.
“It's been a journey of learning, challenges, and amazing friendships. Even though I'm moving on, Wakilni will always hold a special place in my heart.”
